At home with Charlotte Broekaert

Hi, Charlotte! We’re so excited to feature your new home in our journal. To begin, could you reintroduce yourself to the club please?

Of course. I am Charlotte, twenty five years old, working as the digital editor for Feeling magazine while creating content on the side. My life feels like a modern day Carrie Bradshaw moment filled with meetings, writing, photoshoots and city life, and I truly enjoy the pace of it. I love creating beautiful things, whether that is for a story or inside my home.

Where do you draw inspiration from when choosing pieces for your home?

At the moment I find most of my inspiration in Nancy Meyers movies. I love the way her interiors feel warm and lived in yet elegant and considered. That combination of comfort and sophistication, with a subtle modern twist, is exactly what I want to bring into my own space.

What are your favorite places to shop for home décor?

I love vintage shops because finding unique pieces with a story immediately adds soul to a home. I also enjoy browsing Zara Home for timeless staples. When I discover a space I genuinely connect with, such as a beautifully designed hotel, I often take inspiration from the atmosphere and details I experienced there.

How would you describe the style of your home in three words? Does it match your personal style?

Elegant, lived in and timeless. A few years ago my style was focused on modern shapes, chrome accents and minimalism. Today I want warmth, atmosphere and pieces that feel refined. It matches the way my personal style has evolved and it feels much closer to who I am now.

How has your interior style evolved over the years?

I used to prefer very minimal and sleek interiors. As I grew older I started craving spaces that feel softer and more layered. I now look for timeless pieces and details that bring comfort and emotion into a room. My home feels more like a reflection of myself than ever before.

Good lighting. Everything begins with light. Morning sunshine, a warm lamp in the evening or the soft glow of candlelight can completely transform a room and give it character and emotion.

Which Lepelclub collection and colorway do you think matches your home the best?

I remain very happy with the Bow Series. A bow adds a gentle and elegant touch that fits beautifully with the atmosphere I aim to create at home.

To wrap up, what interior design trends do you think we are going to see a lot of in 2025?

I think we will see a strong return of what I call the Nancy Meyers mood, meaning warm and characterful interiors that feel personal rather than overly styled. With the holiday season approaching I notice gingham and nostalgic patterns making a comeback. The Soho House feeling will continue to inspire many people as well, with rich textures and an inviting, lived in sensibility.
