A coffee with Sophie

We’re so excited to hear your story! Tell us, who is Sophie?

Tack, I'm happy & honored to be featured here!

I’m Sophie Nordenhed. As the name suggests, Swedish, and a Taurus who lives up to the stereotype; routine, ambition, hopeless stubbornness and a deep appreciation for beautiful things.

Where did you grow up and where do you live now?

I grew up in a small Swedish town - quiet, close-knit and gorgeous, surrounded by lakes & forests.

After Stockholm for high school and a few years of travel, I chose Amsterdam. Seven years later, it remains the place I call home. I love the small town feeling with all the conveniences & events of a capital city.

What inspired you to start Sunday Run Club?

Going way back I got into running thanks to my mom. She's an ironWOMAN and ultramarathon runner, and I grew up watching her train once or twice a day. I learned early on how important community & support is when it comes to endurance sports (and life). I really valued my moms company & engagement when I got into running myself.

When I started my first marathon training block I didn't have friends in Amsterdam that were into running the same way I was, so I created Sunday Run Club. At first it was only two handfuls of people running together every Sunday. Within two years it became one of the biggest run clubs in Europe with tens of thousands of followers online, moving hundreds of runners every week, even attracting brands such as Nike & Adidas.

What are your future plans/dreams for SRC?

I love to feel empowered when I run, and I think what I wear plays into that a lot. I love beautiful, colour-coordinated outfits and I care more about my sports wardrobe than my regular one. It's a dream to combine these two passions and put out apparel that represents community, support & beauty.

Another avenue I'm pondering is a club house. I'd love for Sunday Run Club to have a place we can call home.

You are traveling all over South America–how cool! What are your biggest takeaways so far?

Yes! It's so amazing. I highly recommend Buenos Aires, Patagonia & Rio. And kitesurfing for anyone looking for a new hobby. My biggest takeaways are 1) it's never too late to learn something new 2) growing up surrounded by lakes and forests shaped me.

For someone so driven, I’m surprisingly uninterested in being busy. I’m at my best when life feels slightly quiet and removed, and I need a lot of reflection time to process and brainstorm.

What are some of your 2026 New Year’s resolutions?

Oooo I'm not big on those, I like to reflect on the year that's been and see what I want to leave behind and what I want to bring with me. I have some personal running goals and some career goals that we've spoken about, but those are more longer term than what I can (or want to) achieve in a year.

Overall I aim to stay true to myself and my intuition, to take care of my health, my relationships & to give back to the community.

We can’t let you go without asking our favorite question! How do you take your coffee?

Swedish filter coffee with unwhipped full fat whipped cream (I know) is my absolute favourite.

P.S. If you made it this far, thank you for reading. With so much fighting for our attention daily, I'm grateful you gave me a moment of yours. All my love. <3
