A coffee with Sofie

A coffee with Sofie

Hi Sofie, we’re glad you’re here! Can you share a little about yourself please?

Hi, thank you so much for having me <3

My name is Sofie, I’m 25 years old, and I am the founder of the vintage brand My Vintage Affair. I’m a shoelover, vintage addict and raised on SATC.

Ever since I was little, I’ve been a girly girl with a deep appreciation for aesthetics. As a child, I would spend weekends hosting small flea markets in front of my parents’ house, sitting there for hours. I’ve always loved discovering pieces and finding a good deal. That curiosity and eye for detail still follow me today and are a constant presence in both my work and personal life.

Where did you grow up and where do you live now?

I grew up in a beautiful small town just north of Copenhagen called Snekkersten. Today, I live in Copenhagen with my boyfriend in a charming old apartment, renovated with my family and filled with good energy and lots of vintage shoes.

How did your love for vintage pieces begin?

My love for vintage began early. As a child, I spent a lot of time at flea markets and in secondhand shops with my mom, at a time when wearing pre-loved pieces wasn’t nearly as accepted or popular as it is today. When I was around 12, I started collecting shoes and displaying them in my room. Over time, this curiosity grew into a deeper appreciation and understanding of vintage pieces. For me, vintage has always been about connection and intention, and choosing pieces that feel special to you.

Do you have a favorite item to source?

Shoes. Always.

What led you to start My Vintage Affair? We would love to hear more about it and the process!

At the age of 15, I started my first small business, selling both my own and others’ secondhand and vintage pieces. As school and growing up naturally took over, I paused that chapter. When I later began my studies, I began building My Vintage Affair. I studied marketing and communication design, which gave me concrete knowledge and strengthened something I had always felt intuitively. When I started My Vintage Affair, my boyfriend was closely involved in building the business. I wasn’t fully ready and didn’t have everything figured out, but I learned along the way. Building the brand has taken time and has been shaped by experience. Throughout the journey, I’ve been surrounded by a lot of support. My family, especially my mom, has been there through both ideas and doubts, and I’ve also been lucky to have close friends who have helped with photoshoots and creative moments. I wouldn’t be where I am today without them.

What does ‘in’ mean to you in 2026?

I will always love animal print, being slightly overdressed, jeans and heels together, and investing in quality over trends.

What are your favorite parts about running My Vintage Affair?

Getting to do what I love and the excitement when sourcing the right piece. Sometimes I forget that people are following along and it always makes me happy when someone reaches out with kind words.

What does a typical day look like for you?

No two days really look the same, which I enjoy. Since we work in drops, a lot of my time goes into sourcing vintage pieces that feel right for each drop.

My days move between creative and hands-on work. I spend time with my cobbler, develop concepts and shoot content, work on moodboards and photoshoots, update the website and reply to messages. It’s very hands-on, and I enjoy the balance between creativity and everyday tasks.

To finish off, how do you take your coffee?

Iced latte with caramel syrup. Lots of caramel syrup, I have a very sweet tooth.
