A coffee with Laura

A coffee with Laura

Hi Laura, we are so excited to have you here! Let’s start stirring! Who is Laura?

Thank you for having me! At this moment in my life, I’d describe myself as a dreamer who chooses positivity, someone who stays true to her visions and holds on to her beliefs, rituals, and faith to turn them into reality.

From a more label-oriented perspective, I’m a proud Brazilian, a Leo, a daydreamer, a nature lover, a fashion enthusiast, a hopeless romantic, and someone who truly enjoys life’s small pleasures.

Where did you grow up and where do you live now?

As already mentioned, I was born in Ouro Preto, Brazil, where my heart still lingers. It’s a charming colonial town in the state of Minas Gerais, known for its gold-mining history, iconic Baroque churches, and dreamlike streets. Due to my father’s work, however, we moved quite often within Brazil. This gave us the wonderful opportunity to live in beautiful places across the country, including the states of Rio de Janeiro and São Paulo, both incredibly diverse and inspiring, with breathtaking landscapes, stunning beaches, vibrant culture, and, not to mention, the tastiest food! And right now, life brought me to the bavarian heart, Munich.

What was your push to start Lablon?

Does a dream, delusion, and dissatisfaction with my previous job count? -laughing

I’ve actually always wanted to give this dream a try. I guess I was always waiting for that feeling of “being ready” to just dive in. But now I realize that feeling is just an illusion, it probably never comes, not even after you’ve already started moving toward it. The best I can suggest is to simply start, step by step, and let yourself be guided by the inevitable flow of enthusiasm that comes when chasing a dream and doing something you love.

Where do you source inspiration for your designs?

I think the question should rather be: where not. There are literally so many sources of inspiration I draw from. I think it really depends on whether I seek inspiration consciously or not.

Consciously, I mainly turn to fashion shows, from the most current to almost “vintage” ones, because we know that trends are often revivals of previous ones. Then, probably the more obvious sources, like trend reports, trades, social media and online magazines.

Unconsciously, I’m inspired by color palettes, moods, women on the streets, films, my favorite series… As I said, the list could probably go on endlessly.

What has been your biggest lesson in your entrepreneurial journey so far?

I wouldn’t call it a lesson, but rather a mindset, which I believe is crucial: “If you believe you can, you are already there.” For me, this means that self-employment is not just about hard skills and competencies, it’s also about your self-perception. Some days will require you to believe in your dreams and visions before anyone else does, especially at the very beginning.

To sum it up: get your mind right, fill it with positive thoughts and affirmations, and always keep your beautiful visions in sight. You can do hard things, girls!

If you could have dinner with any three guests (and featuring any Lepelclub tableware) who and what would it be?

Uh, that’s a tough one! I can invite anyone, right? Haha!

I think I would invite Jay Shetty and Joe Dispenza just to tap into their brilliant minds, and my current entrepreneur crush, Sasha Meneghel. That would be entrepreneurship and spirituality with a touch of fashion, and would definitely make for a great constellation! I’d serve them Brazilian coffee in the Red Heart Tumblers!

Outside of Lablon, what are your passions and hobbies?

I love baking, meditating, traveling, forest bathing, going to the cinema, lingering in cafés, reading, and spending quality time with my friends and family.

And our favorite question here at Lepelclub, how do you take your coffee?

Single expresso with oat milk or a café coado whenever I feel homesick!
