A Coffee With Sade @pearlyinteriors

Hey! Can you tell us a bit more about yourself?
Hi! I am Sade, a graduate student and interior decor enthusiast currently living in California.

Your Instagram account has introduced us to so much unique homeware. How do you find such special spaces and pieces?
I am always inspired by nature (hence my *pearly* title), I use Pinterest like a 50-year-old mom and Tumblr like a millennial. Above all, I am inspired by my community on Instagram! You have all basically curated my feed for me by sending me your lovely spaces.

How would you describe your own, personal interior style?
My interior style is continuously evolving. I have slowly moved away from pastels and the hyper-feminine to a more earthy and ethereal style. I emphasise soothing yet saturated colours; mainly roses, yellows, creams, blues, and greens. I prioritise round shapes over straight edges on furniture and decor and I am a fan of cosiness in general. I want my space to be full of chairs and pillows for sitting with a glass of wine or a book. I am also very fond of bringing the outdoors inside; you will find rocks and plants and earthy scents being burned in most corners of my home.

If you could sum up the vibe of your dream home in three words, what would they be?
Warm, eclectic and soft.

Fill in the blank: No home is complete without…
Lamps! I am very anti-overhead-lighting, haha.

If you could invite anyone into your home for a coffee, who would it be and why?
I would love to sit down and chat with Solange! I have always been a fan of her music and style, and after her recent feature in Apartamento magazine, I would love to pick her brain on her interior design aesthetics and how to source Black art.

Finally! What are your predictions for the interior trends we are going to be seeing throughout 2023?
This is a hard one! I like to think that my instagram account has a little bit of influence over the trends, hehe. I guess what I would like to see is a turn away from mass-produced pieces/specific trends and back towards antiques and small artists. I think one of the great aspects of our social media age is that we can be empowered to fully embrace (and even name) our own aesthetic leaning. I say: BE YOU! Collect objects that bring you joy.
