At home with Charlotte

Hi Charlotte! Can you tell us a little about yourself and your life in Amsterdam?
My name is Charlotte, Iām 27 years old, and I live with my boyfriend in our newly renovated home in Rotterdam. Iām a psychologist working with young people in the criminal justice system, but I also have a strong passion for fashion and content creation.

You recently renovated your home ā what was the vision for the renovation?
The vision for the renovation was a Parisian-style apartment, blending original features with classic English influences and modern touches.
When designing and styling your home, where do you typically look for inspiration?
For inspiration, I mainly turned to Pinterest, as well as architectural references and interior design pages on Instagram.
Are there any local influences or Amsterdam-specific elements reflected in your home?
We live in an old apartment with classic elements such as high ceilings and an en-suite layout. To preserve its character, we made sure to keep and highlight these original features.

How would you describe the atmosphere of your apartment in three words, and how closely does it mirror your personal style?
Warm, elegant, and timeless. The atmosphere reflects my personal style very closely: Iām drawn to classic silhouettes and neutral tones, but I like to balance them with modern details and a slightly playful edge.
Finish the sentence: A home feels complete when it has ________.
A home feels complete when it reflects the people living in it, feels lived-in rather than perfect, and invites you to slow down and feel at ease.
Looking ahead, what interior design directions do you feel excited about for 2026?
Iām excited about a continued return to characterāmore natural materials, deeper colors, and interiors that feel personal rather than trend-driven. I also love the idea of mixing historical references with contemporary design in a way that feels intentional and timeless.
