A coffee with Good Girl Snacks

Hi Good Girl Snacks! Welcome to the club. Can you tell us a bit about yourself?
We’re Leah Marcus and Yasaman Bakhtiar, best friends and co-founders of Good Girl Snacks. We share a love for food, culture, and building brands that feel modern and community-driven. Good Girl Snacks lives at the intersection of flavor, social, and design, with the goal of bringing energy to categories that have historically been overlooked.
Where did you grow up and where do you live now?
We both grew up in Geneva, Switzerland, but never crossed over as I (Leah) moved to the US as a child. This European upbringing mixed with our Middle Eastern backgrounds has shaped our appreciation for bold flavors and quality ingredients. Today, we’re based in Los Angeles, building the business, retail expansion, and on-the-ground brand moments.
Tell us more about Good Girl Snacks! How did the brand come to be?
We started noticing a growing trend on TikTok around pickles, with Gen Z embracing them as a snack rather than just a condiment. At the same time, we found ourselves itching for something new after getting bored in our first corporate jobs, and started digging deeper into the category. As we paid attention to the increasing social presence around pickles, it became clear that while cultural interest was growing, the category itself hadn’t evolved alongside it. We saw an opportunity to build a premium, better-for-you pickle brand with bold flavor innovation and modern packaging, and decided to chase it.
What has been your biggest milestone so far, and what is one goal you have for 2026?
One of our biggest milestones has been entering major retailers like Whole Foods while growing organically through community and social. Our goal for 2026 is to be in 2,000+ doors nationwide and expand into new formats that meet consumers wherever they snack.
What is your favorite way to eat your Good Girl Snacks pickles? Recipe tips welcome!
Straight out of the jar, cold and crunchy. We also love them chopped into tuna salad, paired with whipped cottage cheese on toast, alongside a martini and we have a million recipes for you to checkout on our Instagram / TikTok
What does your dream day off look like?
No alarms, a workout or long walk, great coffee, a really good meal that turns into another one, time outside, phones mostly off, and ending the day with friends and something salty.
What’s one thing nobody would expect about you?
Despite the playful branding, we’re extremely data- and operations-driven. Behind the scenes, we’re focused on margins, logistics, and building a scalable business.
Before we wrap up, we have to ask! How do you both take your coffee?
Iced cappuccino with nonfat milk. Yes, we have the same order. Yes, we’re basically the same person.
