A coffee with Dr. Louise Lagendijk

A coffee with Dr. Louise Lagendijk

We are so excited to have you here! Let’s start stirring! Who is Louise?
At my core, I’m someone deeply fascinated by the intelligence of the body, and what happens when we really start listening to it. As an integrative medical doctor, my work goes beyond treating symptoms. It’s about awareness. About helping women reconnect, slow down, and understand that health is something you cultivate every single day, through small, conscious rituals. From sunrise to sunset.

Where did you grow up and where do you live now?
I grew up in the south of the Netherlands, surrounded by nature, and moved to Amsterdam when I was 18. I’ve lived abroad in different places and have always had a passion for traveling, but Amsterdam has always remained home.

You started your journey as a medical doctor and later built The Core We Care. What led you to create your own approach to wellness?
During my years in conventional medicine, I started to feel that something was missing. We are very good at diagnosing and treating, but much less focused on prevention, lifestyle, and the deeper signals of the body. I became more and more interested in what happens before disease, how daily habits, stress, emotions, and nutrition shape our health. That’s where my approach was born: in the space between science and conscious, intuitive living.

What inspired you to design your supplements as sprays rather than pills?
Because wellness should feel simple, intuitive, and part of your daily rhythm, not something forced. Sprays allow nutrients to be absorbed directly through the oral mucosa, which makes them both effective and gentle. But beyond that, I wanted to create something that fits into a ritual. Something you actually enjoy using, rather than something you have to remember.

What was a moment on your journey when you felt, “this is why I started this”?

I’ve always dreamed of creating my own wellness line for women. I’m the kind of person who can spend hours wandering through unique boutiques or wellness stores looking for that one special oil for my skin or a new supplement to support relaxation, whether that’s in Erewhon in LA or a small concept store in Amsterdam.

I was constantly recommending products to patients in my practice, but over time I increasingly felt that supplements could be cleaner, better formulated, and better absorbed by the body. That was really the moment I knew it was time to create something myself.

What are your three biggest wellness tips currently?

- Start your day in connection with yourself, before anything else enters your space.

- Keep your blood sugar stable, one of the most underestimated foundations of hormonal and mental balance.

- And SPF every single day is non-negotiable for me. We just launched our NAD+ Face Spray SPF30 - The Core Skin Longevity Mist™ a lightweight, non-sticky face mist designed to protect against daily UV exposure while boosting hydration and supporting a healthy, natural glow.

What does your perfect slow morning look like?
Waking up slowly, removing my mouth tape, and taking a moment to feel where I am. Hydrating first, always. Then moving into simple rituals: tongue scraping, my supplement sprays, skincare. I love starting with gentle movement, yoga, pilates, or just being on my mat, checking in with my body. Sometimes I meditate in silence. It’s not about doing more, but about being present in the moment.

What is something people might be surprised to learn about you?
People often see me as very calm and relaxed, which, most of the time, I genuinely am. But there’s also a side of me that gets incredibly excited about things, especially when it’s something I’m passionate about. I can literally talk about it the entire evening without stopping.

And as always, our favorite question: how do you take your coffee?
I usually choose matcha with coconut milk, but if I drink coffee, I prefer a mushroom coffee with adaptogens. It gives a more stable focus and energy, without the sharp caffeine spike, and feels much more supportive for the nervous system.
