A coffee with Caro

Hi Caro, we’re glad you’re here! Can you share a little about yourself please?
Hi, thanks for having me! My name is Caro, I am 26 years old and have been doing social media since I was 14 years old! My content is a fun mix of lifestyle, fashion, self-growth and everything in between. A couple of years ago I founded my own fashion brand, Ninety-9, together with my dad, which has been growing ever since.
Where did you grow up and where do you live now?
I grew up in the German city Frankfurt and still live here today.
What did your journey into Ninety-9 look like?
I’ve had the chance to design a couple of fashion pieces with an existing brand before and absolutely loved the process! I quickly realized that I want more - more control in the decision process, more ideas and more clothing that doesn’t exist like this yet. Ninety-9 started out with a collection of party dresses and jewelry and has evolved immensely in the last couple of years. From loungewear to sunglasses and swimwear - we have pretty much everything you’d need!
What has been your favorite piece or collection thus far (tricky question, we know!)?
It is a tricky question indeed haha! I think if I have to pick one, it’s gotta be our swimwear! When we started out sampling our first bikinis I really felt the gap in the German/European market. There simply weren’t any cheeky yet elegant bikinis out there! I am incredibly happy and proud that we were the ones to fill this void.
What has been the biggest challenge of building a brand while also being a content creator?
It’s the balance. I always feel like something’s on the back burner: If I’m ahead with content creator work and Ninety-9, I’m neglecting my personal life. If I’m enjoying my personal life a bit more, there’s to-dos piling up in my work life. I unfortunately never feel like I can handle all three things equally.
Ninety-9 is all about confidence and femininity. What does feeling confident mean to you personally?
It’s an attitude of how I go about my day. Feeling confident to me does not mean everything always goes well, it means I believe in myself to face whatever doesn’t go smoothly and handle it accordingly. And on a more surface level: It’s a good outfit paired with a good hair day!
What do you predict to be the top three trends/looks this summer?
Butter yellow, the ongoing print of polka dot, and matching linen sets
How do you relax after a long day?
A good pilates session on the reformer and a nice long walk with my frenchie afterwards. To really wind down at the end of the day, I might even take a hot bath and watch some trash tv.
What’s something people would be surprised to learn about you?
I think I can come across as conceited or arrogant sometimes, but that’s due to my resting bitch face! I promise I’m nice haha!
Let’s wrap it up the Lepelclub way: how do you take your coffee?
It’s 50/50 nowadays whether it's matcha or coffee! If I decide to go with a coffee, it’s an almond cappuccino.
